Cloudflare Expands Developer Credits and Services for Non-Profit Automation
Cloudflare now offers up to $250,000 in developer credits to non-profits and civil society organizations, supporting automation and secure AI-powered apps using Workers AI and AI Gateway, while embedding security and privacy. Volunteer engineering support is also available for high-impact projects.
What changed?
Cloudflare has expanded its developer offerings for civil society and non-profit organizations. These groups can now receive up to $250,000 in Cloudflare developer credits, making use of services like Workers AI and AI Gateway to power automation, build secure custom apps, and run AI workloads without dedicated GPU infrastructure. Cloudflare also provides volunteer engineering teams to help design and implement robust solutions. Security, privacy protections, and DDoS mitigation are integrated from the start. The broader startup program now includes non-profits, with 30 organizations selected for the initial cohort, and applications open for the next round.

To date, Cloudflare has distributed over $7.5 million in credits to civil society organizations, supporting projects like newsroom workflow automation, WhatsApp-based mental health tools, and community mapping platforms.
Why does it matter to an everyday developer?
Everyday developers working in, with, or for non-profits and public interest groups can now build and scale AI-driven and automated applications with greatly reduced infrastructure costs and enhanced built-in security. Cloudflare's serverless model reduces the need to manage idle or peak infrastructure, and features like AI Gateway provide observability and cost controls. Security and privacy—major concerns for organizations handling sensitive data—are addressed out of the box. This removes historic barriers of high costs and complex security setup, enabling focus on application logic and end-user impact.
Examples include custom editorial workflow tools, scalable chat-based mental health support, and sensitive information-processing dashboards—all of which developers can now deliver with fewer resources and less operational overhead.
