Cline SDK v0.0.89 Improves Large Tool Result Handling, Custom Provider Support, and Model Catalog
The latest Cline SDK update introduces full recovery for oversized MCP and Composio tool results via an in-memory caching system, enhanced custom provider execution, more robust provider settings management, and an updated model catalog. Developers using Cline agent tools and custom models benefit from greater reliability and easier integration of large outputs.
What changed?
Cline SDK v0.0.89 introduces several important updates for developers using tool integrations and custom providers in the Cline framework:
- Oversized MCP and Composio tool results can now be fully recovered. Outputs too large for immediate model consumption are stored in a per-session in-memory cache. The model receives a preview and a `cline://cache/...` URI, allowing paging through the full result using `read_files`.
- Custom tools can opt in to this oversized result recovery by setting `resultPolicy: "cache-oversized"` in `createTool`.
- Custom providers specified in `providers.json` or `models.json` now execute correctly on the agent path and register with the gateway as intended. Registration issues affecting custom provider selection are resolved.
- Provider setting saves are now more robust, with serialized mutations, improved error propagation, async saves, and authentication for model source requests.
- The model catalog is updated: GPT-6.1 Sol is added, Pixel Canary Stealth is dropped, some defaults are changed, and Vultr model IDs have been renamed (potentially requiring users to re-select pinned Vultr models).
